Allington Lock

Allington Lock

The original Allington Lock was built in 1792 enlarged in 1831.The modern day lock was built in the 1930's.

The lock marks the place where the River Medway becomes tidal, it is the final lock on the River Medway and it can accommodate vessels of up to 8m in Breadth.

During the floods in 2000, the army was called out when five boats threatened to break from moorings and damage the lock.
